Nevada Governor’s Office of Energy Concludes 50-Day Campaign Celebrating 50 Years of Service During National Clean Energy Week

The Nevada Governor’s Office of Energy (GOE) has concluded its 50 Days for 50 Years campaign, a statewide effort that highlighted five decades of energy leadership, innovation, and service to the people of Nevada.

Launched on July 28, the campaign shared daily stories of impact, including Nevada’s progress in renewable energy, workforce development, infrastructure, and programs that have saved residents millions in energy costs. Each day honored a milestone or achievement that has shaped Nevada’s energy future.

“This campaign gave us the chance to reflect on our past, honor prior leadership, highlight our current achievements and look ahead to the next 50 years of service,” said GOE Director Dwayne McClinton. “From breakthrough geothermal development to expanding clean energy access, Nevada is proving that innovation and resilience go hand in hand in building our energy future.”

Former Director Stacey Crowley also reflected on the milestone:
“As Nevada’s Director of the Office of Energy under Governor Brian Sandoval from 2011 to 2013, I was honored to serve during a pivotal time for the state’s energy future. We expanded solar, wind, and geothermal—making Nevada a national leader in clean energy. As chair of the New Energy Industry Task Force, we developed the state’s first comprehensive strategy for transmission, regional coordination, and clean energy growth. Programs like the Green Building Tax Abatement and EnergyFit Nevada drove efficiency in large developments and homes alike. And through the Renewable Energy Tax Abatement program, we attracted billions in investment and created thousands of jobs. The best part? The people. Governor Sandoval’s leadership was decisive and visionary. I was fortunate to collaborate with a dedicated team in our office and across various agencies, including the PUCN and Economic Development. Happy 50th to the Office of Energy! You continue to lead with purpose—and Nevada is better for it.”

The conclusion of the campaign coincides with National Clean Energy Week (September 15–19, 2025), a nationwide celebration of the clean energy economy. In recognition of Nevada’s contributions, Governor Joe Lombardo issued a proclamation officially declaring Clean Energy Week in Nevada.

Over the course of the 50-day campaign, GOE showcased:

  • Nevada’s position as a national leader in geothermal and solar energy.

  • Investments in workforce training, energy efficiency programs, and infrastructure.

  • Policies and partnerships that strengthen reliability and equity in energy access.

  • The voices of past and present GOE directors reflecting on 50 years of impact.

As the campaign closes, GOE affirms its vision: to provide all Nevadans affordable, reliable, sustainable, and clean energy choices through a holistic and realistic approach.
