Governor Joe Lombardo appointed James Humm as Director of the Nevada Governor’s Office of Energy in March 2026.

Humm previously served as Executive Director of the Nevada Cannabis Compliance Board, where he led regulatory strategy, agency operations, and legislative initiatives for a rapidly evolving industry. Humm earlier held senior roles at the Governor’s Office of Economic Development, overseeing public policy, legislative affairs, and economic growth initiatives, and supported Nevada’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

He also served as Deputy Chief of Staff and Legislative Liaison for the Nevada Attorney General’s Office, helping advance key public safety legislation. Before entering public service, he held leadership roles in legal administration and worked as a consultant with Deloitte.

Humm holds a degree in economics from the University of San Diego and is a Las Vegas native.
